Tata Sukanta has been selling tasty asinan and rujak juhi on this very spot since 1978. He does a flawless tango with Pak Saridal, whose sate ayam and sate kambing have delighted fans for 60 years — pretty much since the heyday of Es Krim Ragusa. Recommendation: gorge on a portion of asinan or rujak juhi, or both, and cap off with a cup of rum raisin ice cream (Rp 13,000), or a tube of tutti-frutti (Rp 21,000) unlike any you’ve ever tasted under the lazy, languorous breeze of this national heritage’s fabled ceiling fans.
